During an impromptu Google search, I discovered a reference on your website to my O Magazine article, "Be Excellent to Each Other." As a writer, my main mission is to help people through words and experiences, and I'm pleased to know that you felt inspired. I also want to thank you for the honor of being mentioned on your site.
The article came out of the blue. I was on sabbatical from writing after two years of caregiving and hospice work -- during which time I came to greatly admire those courageous souls who are nurses -- when I received a call from an editor at O. It seems she had found a copy of TEMP, a book I wrote ten years ago, and asked me to write a story based on the chapter, "Be Excellent to Each Other." I happily agreed, had a wonderful time doing the piece, and voila! my writing career was accidentally relaunched. For this, I thank Oprah as well.
As you know, life often runs full circle. And excellence is, indeed, an identity that cycles on. After reading your piece and perusing your website, I can see that you are a master of inspiring excellence yourself. I wish you the best in continuing to build a healthcare environment of compassion and caring customer service -- success that grows from the heart.
