St. Vincent De Paul, Dayton
Thirty years ago, St. Vincent opened the community’s first shelter for the homeless in a converted firehouse in downtown Dayton, OH. They have provided more than four million nights of shelter to the homeless since 1985.
Recent years have increased the Community’s need for the services provided by St. Vincent De Paul. Employment challenges for the poor, for example, remain significant, and affordable housing for this population is shrinking. Sadly, as reported by Feeding America, the nation’s leading anti-hunger organization, 21.5% of children in the Greater Dayton region (Montgomery County) – more than 30,000 children – are food insecure, and Dayton is the 4th hungriest city in the United States.
Advantage RN’s contribution will go toward supplying St. Vincent De Paul’s shelter kitchen which served nearly 400,000 meals to their shelter guests in 2015 and to their food pantries which distributed 300,000+ meals to more than 30,000 persons in 2015 — even though they’re open just two days a month.
